The UK’s prestigious tennis tournament is turning out to be a key summer event on the Middleton family calendar. Typically, Kate Middleton and her sister, Pippa Middleton, attend the event, having grown up keen tennis players and long-time fans of the game.
Last year, the Duchess of Cambridge — who is the patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club — attended the Grand Slam tournament with her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle, and just last week, at this year’s event, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out to enjoy a day of tennis at Wimbledon.
Indeed, the duchess surprised and delighted fans by initially heading to one of the outer courts and taking a seat in the regular stands to watch Harriet Dart play Christina McHale. The Wimbledon regular then headed over to centre court to the royal box to enjoy more thrilling matches at the tournament.
On Monday, July 8, the duchess’s sister and brother, Pippa and James Middleton, followed their sister’s lead, enjoying a family day out at the tournament together, sitting in the royal box on centre court to take in the atmosphere and adrenalin of the Grand Slam tournament.
A highlight for royal watchers when either of the Middleton sisters attend an event is the fashion and Pippa didn’t disappoint. While her sister, Kate, wore a stunning white bespoke dress from Suzannah in London for her trip to Wimbledon last week, Pippa opted for an equally chic blush pink dress from British designer Stella McCartney.
Pippa, 35, paired the dress with minimalist tan heeled sandals and a matching blush pink hat, nailing effortless summer tennis courtside style.
It’s notable that both Pippa and Kate wore British labels to Wimbledon, in what could be seen as a patriot nod of support for their country’s tennis players. Or, in Pippa’s case she could have also been taking her cues from her sister’s wardrobe.
To attend her nephew, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor’s, royal christening on Saturday, Kate, 37, wore a pink Stella McCartney dress. And, although it wasn’t the same dress Pippa then wore two days later, it’s a close sartorial coincidence for the Middleton sisters to both don a pink Stella McCartney dress within two days of each other.
Whether or not it was the result of a recent shopping outing for the sisters, we can’t know, but we do know that the Middleton sisters in pink Stella McCartney are a fashion high point this year.
